On behalf of Sandra Navalli at Columbia Business School, I'd like to invite you to the half day conference on April 3 at CBS in NYC (details below), and also to join us at 2:15 p.m. for "Developing Programs to Engage Business Schools and Individuals With Records," for a working group session for business school faculty, researchers, and staff only. This session will be an opportunity to hear from universities including UVA/Resilience Education, Georgetown, Wharton, and Columbia, as well as to share your related experiences.

We hope to collectively learn from each other and discuss programs that engage faculty, researchers, students and alumni, and local community partners to advance second chance employment - an initiative that impacts 80M people in the U.S. and more around the world, who face hiring challenges and biases. Dan Wang, Audrey Holm, Damon Phillips, Taryn Williams and other leading scholars will be attending this session.

I hope you can join us for this inaugural conference, which we hope will be hosted by a different university each year. Please RSVP at the link below and/or let us know if you or a university colleague might be able to join us in person on April 3, otherwise online!

    Details:

On Monday, April 3, 2023, starting at 8:30 a.m. ET, please join us for The Business Case for Second Chance Employment: Charting a Path Forward With Business Schools and Corporations. This in-person conference - organized by the Business Roundtable; Tamer Center for Social Enterprise at Columbia Business School; Justice Through Code at Columbia University; and Second Chance Business Coalition, co-chaired by JPMorgan Chase and Eaton Corporation - will explore labor market trends and the role corporations and business schools can play in educating the business community and future corporate leaders on the benefits of second chance employment.

Participants will hear from leading CEOs on the business case for second chance employment and the practical steps chief human resources officers have taken to develop and implement hiring and advancement practices. Participants will also hear about the work of state leaders and business schools in providing pathways to sustainable employment for individuals with criminal records.

Bringing together business leaders, faculty, administrators, scholars from business schools, governors, and directly impacted individuals, this is a Second Chance Month event you will not want to miss.
