Are you recently tenured, or have you been contemplating the path to becoming a Full Professor? This summer, we invite you to join us in Chicago for a Professional Development Workshop (PDW) for mid-career scholars, entitled "Navigating the Mid-Career Stage: Career Advancement and Impact in the OMT Field," sponsored by the OMT Division! The session is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 10, 08:00-09:30 AM in the Fairmont Chicago. This PDW offers an opportunity to learn from senior scholars who have successfully navigated this career stage, as well as from peers who are currently pursuing the same goal. By participating, you will not only gain valuable insights and strategies but also make new connections that will help you thrive in your career in the OMT field.

The workshop features a panel and roundtable discussions led by distinguished OMT scholars. Senior panelists (in alphabetical order):

    • Christine Beckman, University of Southern California

    • Forrest Briscoe, Pennsylvania State University

    • Joep Cornelissen, Rotterdam School of Management

    • Eero Vaara, University of Oxford

    • Charlene Zietsma, University of Michigan

    Tentative topic areas:

    • Career development and movement, including professional growth strategies in various institutional contexts.

    • Leadership pathways, including journal editorships, executive roles within academic divisions, or institutional leadership roles.

    • Balancing roles and responsibilities, including teaching at different levels, research (including group leadership and mentoring of doctoral students), and administrative responsibilities.

    • Research evolution, including broadening or shifting research focus as well as communicating research impact to broader audiences.

    • Additional topics raised via the pre-registration form (link below)

Due to the interactive nature of this workshop, space is limited. To secure your spot, please pre-register using the link (bit.ly/3R7lMlO), by July 7th, 2024. Participants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis from among qualified OMT members, and will be notified by July 14th, 2024.
