Generative AI as a Window into Organizations: Prompts as Data, Method, and Phenomenon (PDW 14370)
๐ AOM 2026, Philadelphia
๐๏ธ Sunday, Aug 2 2026 8:00AM - 11:30AM ET at Loews in Congress A
As generative AI becomes embedded in work and social life, the prompts people exchange with AI offer a new empirical window into organizations. This PDW explores how these prompts can serve as:
๐๐ข๐ต๐ข: trace records of cognitive work, skill formation, and technology adoption
๐๐ฆ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ฅ: experimental treatments, confederates, and measurement instruments
๐๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ฏ: a force reshaping how people coordinate, decide, and learn at work
The session is organized around three themes, each with presentations and a keynote reflection:
๐ช A Window into Cognition and Social Behavior
Presenters: Douglas Guilbeault (Stanford) ยท Aakriti Kumar (Northwestern)
Keynote: Sameer Srivastava (UC Berkeley)
๐ ๏ธ Prompts as Data and Method
