The Liberty Bell in Philadelphia is the most famous bell in the world. Yet doesn't ring. When looking at social phenomena, we often feel that something is missing, unobservable, or silent - yet powerful. This raises intriguing questions: Can we theorize social phenomena through absence(s)? Is it possible to avoid interpretations that impose meaning, instead maintaining tension and the mystery of the social? Can we embrace silences without seeking a definitive voice, or number, to explain everything?

If you are interested in exploring the implications for management and organization studies, then join us at the Academy of Management (AOM) meting in Philadelphia.
