As the human toll of war and systemic violence grows, what can management and organizational scholars offer to the urgent and complex task of building peace in fractured societies?
At the 2025 Academy of Management Annual Meeting
in Copenhagen, we invite organization and management scholars to join our Professional Development Workshop (PDW):
Organizing for Peace: Perspectives on Theory, Methodology, and Action
The PDW will take place on
Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 11:15 AM to 1:15 PM
, at the
Bella Center, Room A2-M4
.
The PDW merges different conversations and brings together scholars exploring how management and organizing processes can support peacebuilding efforts in fractured and complex contexts. Whether or not your research explicitly focuses on peace, we welcome those working on related themes such as conflict, institutions, systems change, sustainability, inequality, or governance.
We're honored to be joined by a group of engaged scholars and facilitators:
Ambreen Ben-Shmuel
(Hebrew University / Truman Institute)
John E. Katsos
(American University of Sharjah)
François Maon
(IÉSEG School of Management)
Linda Jakob Sadeh
(Ruppin Academic Center)
Amanda N Williams
(IMD Business School)
What to expect:
* Brief presentations on business & peace, organizing for peace, and system-level organizing
* Facilitated roundtable discussions for early-stage ideas and research dilemmas
* A reflective, cross-disciplinary space to build community, deepen inquiry, and explore future collaboration
Interested in shaping the discussion?
We invite (but do not require) participants to submit a short, one-page abstract outlining a relevant research question or emerging idea. You can share your theoretical lens, methods, and where you'd appreciate feedback. Whether you're developing a new project or exploring this space for the first time, you are welcome.
Submit to:
linda.jakob@gmail.com
Submission deadline: July 14, 2025
Please feel free to share with colleagues and peers who might be interested. We look forward to holding space for meaningful conversation and learning together in Copenhagen.
