    Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that registration is now open for our Professional Development Workshop at the 2026 Academy of Management Annual Meeting in Philadelphia.

Intelligent Organizing: Strategy and Organization in the AI Age

    Saturday, August 1, 2026 | 1:30–3:30 PM ET | Sheraton Philadelphia, Liberty Ballroom D

Sponsored by OMT, STR, CTO, and TIM

This PDW builds directly on the recently published Strategic Organization Special Issue, "The Question of Intelligent Technology" (Sergeeva, Faraj, Argote, Alexy & Leonardi, eds.), which is accessible at https://journals.sagepub.com/toc/soqa/24/2. The special issue examines how intelligent technologies, particularly AI and large language models, reshape strategy and organization scholarship, raising fundamental questions about organizational capabilities, knowledge creation and transfer, coordination, learning, and organizational boundaries.

The workshop brings together the special issue's authors with early-, mid-career, and senior scholars (pre-registration required) for two hours of structured engagement. Part 1 features an impulse presentation by Paul Leonardi, followed by Part 2: two rotating roundtable sessions hosted by leading scholars on nine topic areas, from new theories of learning in an AI age to organizational knowing after LLMs to the future of management education.

Moderators: Linda Argote (CMU), Paul Leonardi (UC Santa Barbara), Oliver Alexy (TU Munich)

Roundtable Hosts: Carliss Baldwin (Harvard Business School), Reza Baygi (VU Amsterdam), Patrick Figge (Bundeswehr University Munich), Manos Gkeredakis (IESE), Sirkka Jarvenpaa (UT Austin), Katherine Kellogg (MIT Sloan), Natalia Levina (NYU Stern), Nelson Phillips (UC Santa Barbara), Joel Perez Torrents (CNRS/École Polytechnique), Batia Wiesenfeld (NYU Stern), Peter Zemsky (INSEAD)

Spots are limited. To apply, please complete the registration form at https://forms.gle/tVtmhhztkDkahMoeA. Applicants will be asked to indicate three roundtable preferences, submit one question per preferred roundtable host, and provide a brief statement of interest. We will aim to match participants to two of their preferred roundtables.

We look forward to seeing you in Philadelphia.

Anand Bhardwaj (Copenhagen Business School), Christoph Brielmaier (University of Bamberg), Linda Argote (CMU), Paul Leonardi (UC Santa Barbara), and Oliver Alexy (TU Munich)
