The University of California Santa Barbara's (UCSB) Department of Technology Management (TM) invites you to explore our rigorous and interdisciplinary Ph.D. program.     What Distinguishes Our PhD Program?

    Our doctoral program integrates research in organization science with technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation studies:

    • Interdisciplinary Research Environment

      • We leverage existing strengths in engineering, technology innovation, and social sciences at UCSB.

      • Faculty and students are encouraged to collaborate across disciplinary boundaries such as Sociology, Psychology, Economics, Political Science, Computer Science, Management, and Communication.

    • Core Curriculum and Methodological Training

      • Coursework areas include technology management strategy, entrepreneurship, team processes, organizational theory, and technology and organizational change.

      • Students gain training in a wide range of methodological approaches, from ethnographic and interview-based studies to econometric and quantitative methods.

      • Students develop a deep knowledge of technology's effects on organizations and work, technological change, technology entrepreneurship, and technology-enabled innovation.
