This session delves into the multifaceted impact of adverse events on corporate strategic decision-making, offering critical insights for future research in corporate strategy. Understanding the dynamics of adverse events is paramount for managers, as it illuminates the complexities of strategic decision-making processes in turbulent environments. Corporate managers in particular need to devote time and attention away from strategy to address adverse events such as investor activism, industry-wide demand shocks, and economic downturns, and how they respond to these events will have considerable impacts on their organization's future. The session consists of panelists doing a brief presentation on how different adverse events have shaped corporate strategy decisions, providing a foundation to engage in a dynamic discussion with the audience that will further elucidate new paths for research in corporate strategy.
