Dear colleagues,
In the last few years we have faced unprecedented adverse events in a very short time span.
To reflect on what we learned and what we can do as researchers in Management to address these challenges, we are happy to invite you to the SMS extension "Strategies for building resilience: How can organizations and networks manage adverse events?"
Date of the extension: September 15th 2022 (from 9am to 6pm)
Location: ESSEC Business School (Cergy Campus, Paris)
Program Overview: Why are some actors better able to sustain and rebound from adverse events than others? Effective responses and recovery processes are crucial to deal with adversities. The purpose of this Extension, hosted by ESSEC Business School, is to shed light on what strategies and policies can facilitate resilience in the face of exogenous and systemic challenges. We focus on how organizations broadly conceived (for-profit firms, not-for-profit firms, social enterprises) and networks contribute to system resilience. Strategy scholars with different disciplinary backgrounds will be invited to take up the "grand challenge" of studying how organizations and networks can respond to adverse natural or social events (e.g., recessions, pandemics, migrations, natural disasters). The program will feature a mix of panel and paper presentations (selected through the invitation of established scholars working on resilience) and structured interactions with practitioners presenting cases of successful business reactions to adverse events.
Confirmed speakers: Olenka Kacperczyk (London Business School), Tal Simons (Erasmus), Olivier Chatain (HEC Paris), Andrew Shipilov (INSEAD), Gerardo Patriotta (University of Bath), Ekin Ilseven (INSEAD), Ali Mohammadi (Copenhagen Business School), Farah Kodeich (IESEG), Paola Zappa (UCL), Leonardo Nardi (HEC Paris), Rahedur Chowduri (University of ESSEX), Leandro Pongeluppe (Wharton), Miguel Godinho de Matos (CLSBE), Celine Schmitt (UNHCR), Arnault Pretet (OECD)
