Why are there still so few women leaders? The symposium offers new theoretical insights and empirical evidence on how gendered leadership inequalities are produced, negotiated, and transformed across contexts and over time. Through five studies, it examines how intersectional barriers continue to limit access to senior leadership, when representation translates into influence, how gender shapes trust in digital communication, how leaders combine agency and communality, and how leader ideals have shifted over five decades.
