Call for Papers and PhD Proposals
Organizational Design Community's Online Idea Workshop
October 24-25, 2023
ODC is pleased to announce that it will hold its second annual Idea Development Workshop on October 24 & 25, 2023, over the two days before its Annual Meeting. The Workshop is designed to support PhD students and other junior scholars interested in topics related to organization design, by matching each participant with three senior scholars who will provide feedback on a proposed study, similar in format to a PhD proposal defense.
The co-chairs of this year's workshop are Özgecan Koçak and Marco Minervini. Faculty mentors include Carliss Baldwin, Francisco Brahm, Diane Burton, Florian Englmaier, Vibha Gaba, Scott Ganz, Dorthe Døjbak Håkonsson, George Hendrikse, Thorbjorn Knudsen, Tobias Kretschmer, Borge Obel, Henning Piezunka, Joaquin Poblete, Phanish Puranam, Marlo Raveendran, Metin Sengul, and Gurneeta Vasudeva.
Each day's program will consist of two parallel feedback sessions of 40 minutes each, followed by an hour-long panel. Each feedback session will consist of a 10-minute presentation by the participant, 5-minute comments by each senior scholar, and open discussion. The feedback sessions will be open only to program participants and applicants. The panels will be open to all conference attendees, featuring discussions with authors on the origins of their influential ideas and on how they build and nurture research collaborations.
We welcome participants from all stages of a PhD program, post-docs, and junior faculty, but places in the workshop are limited. Applicants should submit a (maximum) 5-page paper / thesis proposal to the workshop co-chairs Özgecan Koçak (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Marco Minervini (email@example.com) by September 30, 2023. We will inform all applicants of their admission and match them with mentors by October 5. Successful applicants will be awarded an annual membership to ODC, which also covers the fees for the conference on October 26-27.
