In the recent decade, a burgeoning community of management and organization scholars has directed its attention to the study of grand challenges. A core aspect of these challenges concerns an accelerated decline and even erosion of trust in core societal institutions such as science, the law, and democracy itself. How do global crises endanger the (perceived) trustworthiness of core social institutions? How does the erosion of trust in institutions unfold? And how do organizations strategically use institutions to address the loss of trust?

Please come and join us for a Showcase symposium "Institutions and Trust: Crisis, Erosion, and Construction"! On Monday August 7, 8:00AM–9:30AM ET @Statler Room, Park Plaza.

    Presenters:

    – Maxim Voronov (York University): "Institutional Trust in the Age of Global Crisis"

    – Renate E. Meyer (WU Vienna & Copenhagen Business School): "The Erosion of Trust in Modern Institutions: The Argumentative Structures of Science Denial"

    – Oliver Schilke (University of Arizona): "Trust of and in Organizations: An Institutional Account"
